About
Although Vic Vaga can be considered a relative newcomer to the professional Rod Stewart tribute artist arena as of late 2010, he can already say that he has entertained music loving revelers in several U.S. cities far from his initial main hub in south central Texas. In just the couple of years since he decided it was his calling to pay homage to Rod Stewart after attending a professional impersonators convention in 2008, Vic has made it his goal to leave his audiences with a most memorable and enjoyable Rod Stewart show experience. He draws immediate attention and commotion wherever he goes whether he is in character or not.
What started out as carrying out a self inflicted dare to dress as Rod one Halloween night led to a yearly ritual of winning Halloween costume contests where he was eventually "discovered" by a celebrity lookalike agent in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Initially, Vic's venture into the crazy world of celebrity lookalikes was limited to just appearance and lip synching type jobs as he surprisingly had no real interest in performing (although he secretly was an ardent study of Rod Stewart concert footage and became a master visual Rod mimic). At that time Vic had paved his way as a band promoter and live music venue operator and as more of a guitar player rather than a singer, let alone a lead vocalist trying to emulate Rod Stewart!
After a few years of doing it the way he was, boredom and a distaste for the current musical climate set in and the performance bug bit and bit hard. Vic formed and performed as a rhythm guitarist in three different retro music bands stemming from his passion for 70's classic rock and early 80's Mtv music. (This influence is overwhelming evident in Vic's current Rod tribute show). Like the chewing gum removal mishap which accidentally shagged his hair, the lead singing role fell into his lap when the lead singer of his Hollywood Knights 80's band decided not to show up for a big gig one night in 2005. Always a proponent of the show needing to go on, Vic took the lead microphone and never looked backed.
Realizing that it was easier logistically and better financially, Vic decided to scale down to just an acoustic classic rock duet in 2006 where he could focus on improving his guitar playing and more importantly his singing. "Gasoline Alley" as he called his act, was able to provide more gig situations which in turn led to working the raspy voice and much more crowd interaction scenarios. Vic has luckily always had a naturally strong and commanding stage presence which is very much needed for a true to life Rod Stewart tribute act.
In 2008, Vic decided to marry the well polished Rod mimicking experiences with the singing he had taken up and decided to "jump into the fire" to perform live as Rod Stewart for the first time at the annual Sunburst convention for professional celebrity tribute artists. The experience was so exciting, inspiring and natural that it was only inevitable to pursue this calling.
Fast forwarding to the present, Vic can now proudly say that he has performed in cities like San Francisco, Sacramento, Houston, Memphis, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Cape Girardeau, Mo., Shreveport, Dallas, Las Vegas as well as San Antonio... The venues and/or events have included many night clubs, corporate functions, small arenas, NBA halftime shows, Seaworld, carnivals and the list continues to grow.
Vic has been fortunate enough to meet and work with other great tribute artists including other "Rod Stewarts" and because of this has decided to focus his present show on Rod's earlier works. This is not only because of the fact that Vic indeed remarkably resembles Rod circa late 70's/early 80's, but because these works are the exciting and fun ones that defined the icon that IS Rod.
Therefore any typical Vic Vaga Rod Stewart tribute show may and/or will include selections from this classic list:

Influences
Any Rod aficionado can only hope to relive the days of when Rod was in the Faces or when he was prancing about during the D'ya Think I'm Sexy days or even when he was conquering early Mtv days circa 1984 and because of this, I have used these periods of Rod's long career as the primary influence for my shows.
