Matthew Sowersby Classical Guitarist

About

Matthew is both a passionate teacher and performer with a lyrical approach to his instrument. He has experience performing in university recitals as a soloist and accompanist as well as commercially for weddings, parties, and community theatre. Matthew and two of his fellow classmates have developed and are performing young audience shows.

Matthew's repertoire is an eclectic mixture varying in style and period. One of his recent projects has been preparing a unique interpretation of Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint. Matthew has participated in a master class with the guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk. He has been the recipient of the Michael K. Anderson Scholarship in Performance, Elin J. Stene Scholarship in Music, Bridgewater State College's Outstanding Achievement in Performance Studies Award, and many other academic scholarships.
