About Jerry Elcock
Hi my name is Jerry Elcock, I have been a performer since I was 5 years old. This has since been my life's passion. My lyrical content draws from my life's experiences, which connects with people of all genres. Music is all I live for, my last album "True Inspiration" describes who I really am. The truth is with out music in my life I would feel empty.
Biography:
As a child growing up in Guyana, South America, JERRY ELCOCK, aka Jee was destined for a career in show business. Raised in a musical family with his father teaching music and the house
always full of musicians, Jerry started singing with his sisters in a gospel group called, The Inspirations, and later performed solo at nightclubs throughout the Caribbean where he lived until emigrating to the United States.
After settling in Queens, N.Y., Jerry sang in a variety of bands performing in clubs such as LEVITICUS, THE COPACABANA, MIKELLÂ’S, and BROADWAY INTERNATIONAL. Jerry has also performed with acclaimed artists such as saxophonist, NAJEE (EMI Records),
RONNIE DAYTON, GRETCHEN GALE, and acclaimed keyboardist TONY PRENDATT.
Additionally, Jerry has worked as a background vocalist with BRIAN McKNIGHT, RAY, GOODMAN and BROWN, Mexican recording artist BETSY PECANINS, LORI-ANN VELEZ, TRINA HAMLIN, MIGUEL ANGEL GARROCHO, ROSINO SERRANO, FABIOLA LORRES, ARTIE REYNOLDS, FAREED HAQQ, MIRIAM NAOMI VALLE, KURT UPPER and ALEC SHANTZIS.
In 1989, Jerry decided to do his own thing; he wrote and produced his own single entitled, "Heartbreak City" which included keyboardist GENE WILLIAMS (who has performed with PATTI
LABELLE and ROBERTA FLACK), and guitarist GLENN GIBSON. In 1990, Jerry maintained an international touring schedule and opened for R&B group AFTER 7 at Japans Showtime at The Apollo and at the Honmoku Officers Club of Yokohama, Japan. Ever moving forward Jerry continued to groove dance floors in Tokyo, London and India. Some of Jerry's latest credits include background vocals on NAJEE's album Just an Illusion and Share
My World, and on BETSY PECANIN's Tequila Blues and Efecto Tequila albums.
