Biography and Background

Bobbi Dulaney of Inner Orbit Movement & Performance has been on the stage for 20 years. With an early background in theater, dance, and vocal performance, she now performs primarily in circus arts and resides in the Bay Area. Entirely self-taught, she began her circus training with hula-hoops in 2006.
Pursuing perfection with hoops, Bobbi began training Aerial Silks during her time performing with The Little Red Studio Troupe in Seattle in 2008. She started performing professionally that year and has continued to develop her craft ever since.
Bobbi has always performed for the love of the art of movement and a passion for physical excellence. Upon moving to California to finish her BFA at California College of the Arts, she trained and taught at Trapeze Arts in Oakland and united with The Dreamtime Circus. After joining Dreamtime on their second international tour, Bobbi began performing with fire staff, fire hoop, and fire poi and was a key performer in the tour's theatrical circus production. Recently, back in Oakland, she played a lead in The Case of D! and the Disappearing Dream which featured her Hoop, Aerial, and Acrobatic talents.
Bobbi has shared the stage with Cirque Du Soliel members and performed in such locations as the Ritz Carlton and the Wynn. Having worked with professional circuses and production companies as well as non-profits and individuals she has diverse and extensive experience working with all varieties of productions and events.

A Bit more about the Available Acts

Hula Hooping is a versatile art that can be taken almost anywhere and Inner Orbit's hula-hoop performances are always exceptional! Highly energetic and dynamic this act features both dance and acrobatics as ways to explore motion with a hoop. Utilizing her dance background and acrobatic skills, Bobbi has developed truly unique tricks and movements with hula-hoops. From mind-bending illusory techniques to shockingly impressive acrobatic feats, Bobbi can do it all. Some of her most crowd-pleasing skills are: using hula-hoops on her feet while doing somersaults, cartwheels and walkovers, using 25 hoops at a time and using one hoop on each limb. Hula-hoop shows can be done with a traditional hula-hoop, fire hoop, or with a specially made LED hula-hoop.

Also available, are Fire Performances. These acts are available in solo or group formats. Generally they feature fire hula-hoop, fire staff, fire poi and occasionally other elements as needed. In booking a fire act with Inner Orbit please let us know if you want a single performer or a group, and if there are particular tools you would like to be featured.

Aerial Tissu Performances* are universally exciting occurrences and always make an event thrilling. Displaying exceeding grace, strength and acrobatic skill while performing dangerous feats high above the crowd, Bobbi can bring your event to another level.


Once you decide what genre(s) of performance will best suit your event please decide what format we can present it in.

* Ambient performance – In costume, moving about a performance space or in one designated location. Key elements of this type of performance are improvisation and duration. Rates are by the hour and vary from hoop/fire/tissu

* Choreographed Performance – In costume, with predetermined choreography and music. From 3-10 minutes. Rates are set.

* Custom Choreographed Performance – In costume designed for your theme, with choreography written for music selected with you and your event in mind. Length of performance determined by you. Rates are dependent on your requests and include a reasonable fee for customization of costuming.


Space Requirements & Rigging
For any ground act Inner Orbit requires an absolute minimum space or 100 square feet although more is highly recommended, especially for fire. Aerial acts require 18 foot ceilings, with a professionally rigged point, or exposed beams with enough open space above to fit a span set. I can bring a stand alone rig to your venue if there is not a suitable point available. My portable rig requires a clear space of approx 20ft x 15ft on the ground and 18ft overhead (contact me with your space dimensions if your venue isnt this exact size/shape or larger, sometimes a custom rigging can be provided)

Music
Please let us know what music format you event will be using (cds/mp3) and if you would like us to choose music specifically for your theme, or alternatively perform to music you have chosen.

Costuming
Costumes can be selected especially for your event, or we are happy to use any that you provide. However, please keep in mind, certain materials, such as sequins and zippers, can damage silks or make performing particularly difficult. Please inquire if you have questions!

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 3 - 120 minutes

Experiencing Bobbi's hooping is an experience of energy and creativity. Most have never thought such things were possible with a hula hoop before seeing her perform.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
-space of at least 100 sq feet
aerial only: a safe point to hang from (must be able to support 2500 lbs of dynamic pressure
fire only: a ventilated space

Additional Notes:
Aerial silks require safe rigging points, fire routoines require ventilated areas, and all routines require a minimum of around 100sq feet of space.

My acts are highly customizable. I offer different services depending on your events own unique needs. I can provide a polished and well developed act for 3-10 minutes, or provide expert improvised entertainment over a longer period of time. I am able to provide a single act or mix and match from my available services (fire, hoop, aerial)
