Halley's passion comes out in her music; a blend of traditional Celtic pieces seamlessly with her own arrangements. Beginning her career 15 years ago as therapy music for nursing facilities, she has since performed in restaurants, galleries, weddings, corporate functions, funerals and more.
"I will be the part of your event that you don't have to worry about!" Her willingness to work with clients for a variety of different occasions makes her a delight to hire; eager to do what she does best; making beautiful music.
Fantastic communication. Arrived very early to set up. Adjusted volume level perfectly to accommodate talking and people. Delightful and professional.
While there was big arts festival sounds during the day, we had our own gallery open up with music, coffee and art. She had some fun, entertaining songs and stories. Sang and played - apparently singing is not part of her regular repertoire but for our little stage she gave everyone a good laugh with some silly irish drinking songs.
To hear and watch Halley play is to understand how beautiful a folk harp can be and what a serious musician can do with one. She has played twice for us at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Portland, OR. The first time was as a guest musician for a summer high mass; the second time was to provide incidental music for the dedication of our Bicycle Shrine on All Soul's Day. The purpose of the shrine is to celebrate the joys of cycling, to pray for the safety of everyone on the road, and to remember Portland's fallen cyclists. Imagine those three concepts put to music and you will understand the quality of her work.

After moving to Portland, Oregon in 2008, I have become known of as Portland's "Bicycling Street Harpist," a popular feature appearing all over the city with me full-sized folk harp and custom-designed bicycle trailer. I have been jokingly referred to as the "zero-emissions" harpist and have been featured on several online news sources including (link hidden) & (link hidden) and in print in the Portland Tribune, Street Roots, Portland Mercury and HipFISH for my musical skills and environmentalism.
My exuberance and passion come out in my music; a unique blend of traditional Celtic and Irish pieces blended seamlessly with my own variations and arrangements. Beginning my career over fifteen years ago as therapeutic music for nursing facilities, I have since performed for choral performances, in pubs/restaurants/cafes, for art galleries, weddings, receptions, corporate dinners, funerals and more.
Performing professionally full-time, I often tell new clients, "I will be the part of your event that you don't have to worry about!" My willingness to work with clients for a variety of different occasions makes me a delight to hire; eager to do what I do best; making beautiful music.
Depending on how the event is formated, I generally show up about 30-45 minutes prior to the event, set-up and tune. I will perform and then pack up and leave. Communication is generally performed prior to the event by email or phone. I am amiable to meeting in-person to go over arrangements. Any additional in-personal meetings or to be present at rehearsals will be charged an extra fee. Other than that, I really do try to be the part of your event you don't need to worry about. You let me know what you need me to play for, what time, where it is - we go over any specific details - I show up and play. Easy as that.
