An Outstanding Supper Club Event

Fil is the BEST! He hit a home run with our auction hour by having a 3 piece combo playing in the lobby of the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City. Guests were then greeted in the "Supper Club" lounge to wonderful vocals and music (set at the perfect volume for conversation during dinner), followed by kicked-up brass and entertainment segment that had attendees hitting the dance floor in no time at all. It was a great event thanks to the Fil Lorenz Orchestra, which set the tone from the very beginning. Bonus: the band members and vocalists were very accommodating and attractive. We are re-booking them for this year's event.

The one job my husband had in planning our wedding was finding an incredible band.
We wanted something extraordinary.
He gets 5 stars for his find and the Fil Lorenz Orchestra get 5 stars for being absolutley wonderful.

We had guests who flew in from all over the world and it was a very discerning crowd. EVERYONE loved the band and the style of music played throughout the evening.
I wanted a very Bossa Nova feel, which started with the trio after the ceremony and continued in with a very chilled vibe as we had dinner, by the time dinner ended the full, little big bad was in place and people were dancing and having a blast.

I ended up being the one having most of the communications with Fil, and I have to say he was an absolute pleasure every time we spoke.
I started to get too much into the details and he asked me to trust him, since I had been very specific about the style and how I wanted the evening to flow. I did, and it was better than had I planned every last song!

They did an outstanding job and my only regret was having too much fun that I never actually went to thank them on the night.
I did in a phone call the following week and here it is again.

Wonderful!!!

So talented and professional! Mr. Lorenz was an absolute joy to work with and brought liveliness and real class to our event! I would highly recommend this group to anyone and everyone that is thinking of hiring a band. If you are on the fence about adding music to your function (as I was), you should just go for it. Having the Fil Lorenz Orchestra at the event made it so much more fun and memorable and the group was so versatile and accomadating, everyone was happy! I would absolutely use his services in the future.

Great Success

I worked with Fil to put together a 4 piece band for my 50th birthday party. The theme was 1961 and I wanted a band that could play the standards. From the beginning Fil did a great job of providing information and suggestions. He was also very responsive to my questions and requests leading up to the event. The party was a great success and the band was a major contributor to that success. Jonathan Poretz as the lead singer was fantastic. I didn't think it was going to be much of a dancing crowd but by midway through the evening the dance floor was full. Thanks again for making my birthday a memorable one!

Absolutely loved them!

The Fil Lorenz Orchestra played at our corporate holiday party this year and everyone absolutely loved them! They played some great selections during dinner as background music and moved to more lively songs afterwards. They were great with accommodating all of our speeches and timing their breaks around our schedule. It was an absolutely memorable evening in part to their presence!

5 stars for sure! Fil was a pleasure to work with and selected a wonderful trio (sax, string bass & guitar) for our corporate cocktail reception at The Claremont. They were prompt, pleasant, extremely talented and obviously were into their music - compliments from our guests throughout the evening. They were amazing.

Fil was amazing. Our DJ wasn't the greatest, and Fil's band more than picked up the slack. Guests kept commenting on the band and asking for their contact info--and my bride and I had a similar reaction. They were amazing. Musicians that attended the party even gave their compliments. Fil always answered his phone, went out of his way to accommodate my requests. One of the members of his band, a trombone player and singer, cancelled at the last moment. What did Fil do? He replaced the trombone player and then hired an additional person to be the singer out of his own pocket. I think this more than explains the type of guy he is.

Wow an wow again!

The Fil Lorenz Orchestra delivered beyond our wildest hopes and dreams. They played for the celebration of our daughter's marriage, and while they didn't steal the show (after all, this is our daughter we're talking about), they came close. Whether dancing or just toe-tapping, our friends & family were spellbound by the band's extraordinary talent, great music selection and all-around performance. We kept pinching ourselves, so powerful was the spell spun by these incredible pros. As music and dance buffs, we all agreed: the Fil Lorenz Orchestra was absolutely amazing. Run, don't walk to book this band. We ourselves can't wait to bring them back!

The "little big band" at our wedding was phenomenal !!
Everyone was extremely professional, and very talented. My
now husband and I had such a blast dancing, and heard over and over
from the guests how much they loved the music. The trio set a
really nice tone for the dinner too. You made the whole process so

Fil and the band did a wonderful job. Many of our guests commented on how excellent the band was and how much they enjoyed the music. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

Fil and his band came to my aid on short notice and I am so thankful they did. My Christmas party wouldn't have been the same without them-- they were a crucial part of setting a classy atmosphere and really knew how to read a crowd. Fil was easy to communicate with and very professional, plus he can play a mean sax! He was timely and made sure to take care of all the details. They are definitely my new "go-to" band for all of my upcoming events. Highly reccommend.

I truly loved working with the Fil Lorenz Orchestra for the Friends of
Dentistry Gala at USC. They provided the perfect match to our roaring 20s
Gala and were wonderful to work with as well. I was a bit worried that our
guests of dentists and doctors wouldn't get up and dance to the music, but
Fil and his crew got them up dancing far into the night. The great jazz
sound combined with the Frank Sinatra-esk voice of their singer were a
perfect pairing. They are truly a unique sound and provide an incredible
experience for any gala or party.

The Fil Lorenz Quartet was outstanding! They added a touch of class to our wedding reception with their sophisticated sounds and matching suits. It was also very sweet of the band to allow my 7th grade nephew to "sit in" on saxophone. Thanks Fil for helping to create a wonderful afternoon.

I manage a large apartment complex that has a yearly indian-summer pool party. Everyone was thrilled, they didn't want it to end. Dealing with Fil Lorenz was a pleasurable experience. They played a wide variety of music catered to our diverse crowd. Very talented group of musicians. Everything went smoothly from the beginning to the time they packed up. Thanks so much. I run a weekly swing dance party at a small jazz club in San Francisco and book Fil Lorenz & his Orchestra to play for us dancers at least once a month. Musically, the band is sensational and their ensemble horn section really makes those classic big band song selections come alive with soul and energy. They have a classy, rich and textured sound that will please dancers and jazz listeners alike.

On the organizational/logistics side of things, Fil is a perfect pleasure to work with: easy to communicate with, simple-no-nonsense booking, adaptable to our dancers' music requests, absolutely professional...and perhaps most importantly *always on time and ready to go when scheduled*.

Fil Lorenz was the first to get back to me (immediately) when I started looking for a band to play my wedding reception. Not only was he great, he quoted me a price I couldn't refuse. When the singer he first mentioned wasn't available, he had another singer who was just as fantastic. He was responsive, not pushy, prompt and really flexible and played our requested first dance song at the tempo we asked for. I didn't have to worry or mind them as they showed up looking sharp, set up and got everything together and played great music. They were incredibly nice and very accommodating including when we asked them to stop playing earlier than scheduled cause grandma was sleeping upstairs at the inn. Everyone at the wedding was VERY impressed with their playing and kept asking where we found them. I HIGHLY recommend them!

The Fil Lorenz Trio played at Project Open Hand's 25th Anniversary Open House event on Thursday, October 7th. They enhanced the evening with their lively energy and soulful ambiance. The band was a joy to work with - incredibly accomodating and professional. The guys were dressed for the part in their suits and berets. I highly recommend this talented group of musicians!

Fil Lorenz provided all the music on my wedding day from the ceremony piano soloist to the cocktail trio, to the reception/dance little big band set. His sound was exactly what I wanted for the wedding, and when he found out I was having some difficulties with the vocal soloist I originally contracted with to perform with the band, he went above and beyond to line up a male and female vocalist for me to make the experience even better than I originally had hoped for! The musicians were all amazing and my guests are still raving about how fantastic the music was. I wish I were getting married again next month just to enjoy the Fil Lorenz Orchestra again!

Fil Lorenz orchestra played as a trio on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for our winery's "Music on the Terrace" series. We saw about 1800 people that day and the feedback from guests and staff alike was fantastic. The trio set a an easy yet energetic tone to the day. The big hit was their antique Hammond Organ which set the "60's Soul Jazz and Boogaloo Band" style. Fil recommended this style for our guests and it proved to be the right call. Will definitely have them back for our series next year!

Fil and the members of the orchestra were incredibly accommodating, professional, personable and incredibly talented! Employees and clients alike were extremely complimentary and very entertained! This was the second time I hired Fil for our annual fundraiser in support of the San Fransisco Symphony. We were as pleased as we were the year before when he provided a little big band for our Swing themed event. First, Fil and his group can play. Very professional and passionate musicians, appropriately dressed, on time, and easy to work with. I know I can count on him to bring first class talent who won't flake. How good is that to know when you have a major event to run?! I recommend him without reservation. You will not be disappointed.
