About

Chris King is a freelance trumpet player in Orlando, Florida. He has been a musician for Walt Disney World since 2005, and holds a Bachelors degree in music from Rollins College. He has performed with the Bach Festival Orchestra of Winter Park, and done various musical theatre productions throughout the state of Florida. He has had the pleasure of playing with artists such as Hank Williams Jr, Bla Fleck, Kirk Franklin, Clint Brown, David Benoit, Sam Rivers, Tony Vega, Menque, Anthony Cruz, Chamaco Rivera, and Oscar Rizo.

Chris also serves as a composer/arranger for various Orlando big bands and popular music groups, often incorporating/orchestrating horn and string section parts, and adapting pop tunes for different ensemble instrumentation. He has appeared on nationally-syndicated television programs on ABC, PBS, TBN, ESPN, Univision and Telemundo, has performed at music festivals throughout the United States, and did a brief stint as a member of the house band on the early morning news program “The Daily Buzz”. He can be seen weekly on ESPN's “Monday Night Football” theme song with Hank Williams Jr, during the 2011 NFL season. Chris can be found playing regularly in jazz, Latin, pop, funk/R&B, and ska groups through the American Southeast.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 15 - 240 minutes

The groups I provide serve as either background or foreground entertainment. We cater to the needs of parties, ceremonies, special events, and much more.

Stage/Setup Requirements:
Usually minimal, if at all. Specifics are easy to discuss.

Additional Notes:
In most cases, the groups offered do not require any special lighting or extensive power supply. In fact, we usually operate as fully acoustic ensembles.

We draw from the songbooks of all the great musicians from Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and many various favorites of the past.

The Classical Ensembles:

Primarily classical and baroque musical selections from the last 300 years of music, with some written in the 20th century. Chamber brass ensemble, or string quartet available.

The Ska Group:

Teflon Don is Orlando's premiere ska/punk/swing band. We do our own original songs, plus covers by many mainstream bands within the realm of popular music.
