Here’s a question we received from one of our beloved GigSalad.com members: Jill Marie who is a fantastic Marilyn Monroe Impersonator based in Van Nuys, California. (check out her profile here.) Her inquiry is below, followed by our response.
Hi friends!
I have queeeestion. : )
Well, I booked my first gig from you guys today. The gentleman didn’t send an inquiry, but called my agent and booked the gig because he found me through you guys.
Am I supposed to log it somehow or pay you a commission for getting me the gig?
Just wanted to make sure I do the right thing.
Thanks so much for everything!
You guys are AWESOME!
Much Love,
JM as MM
xoxo

Hi Jill,
You are great for contacting us about this.
One of the main ways we are setting ourselves apart from other online talent directories is that we do NOT charge commissions to our members, ever. Not 5%, Not 10%. Nothing.
Since we already charge a membership fee, though nominal, we decided from the outset to never charge our members a commission when they are booked. If membership on GigSalad.com were free, then charging a commission for dates that you book when people find you on our site might be more appropriate, but we feel that it is not called for if you’re paying money to be with us. (that’s called double dipping)
So, you’re off the hook this time… and ALWAYS!
Please tell your friends and colleagues about Gig Salad- our goal is to provide the highest level of service, the best website and the greatest value by FAR of anything out there, and we rely on our members to help spread the word, as we’re still a young company.
All the best to you, Jill, and thanks again for your integrity in contacting us about this. You’re a true pro, and here’s to many more gigs!
love and peace,
Steve & Mark
