Why hire Andrew Fletcher?
I'm a professional jazz pianist that plays what some people call 'ragtime' though is more properly New Orleans Jazz piano in the tradition of the 1920's greats like Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton and J P Johnson. If you're throwing a theme party or any sort of festive event where an energetic sound will contribute to the atmosphere, I'm your man. I dress the part and absolutely love my job. When not performing solo, I play with several traditional jazz groups, like Firecracker Jazz Band, WNC's #1 Jazz group, (Mountain Xpress Best of WNC Reader's Poll, 2005-2011) I'm a traditionalist, and I only play real pianos. If you don't have one, I have a mobile piano that I can bring. Lets make music!

New to the music scene, Andrew Fletcher “Valentino” is getting his professional start playing in the style of his musical heroes - Jelly Roll Morton, Clarence Williams and James P. Johnson. After years of classical piano, Andrew began learning jazz tunes and playing them whenever he could, sitting in on countless late-night jam sessions in the high-octane music world of Asheville, North Carolina, cutting his teeth next to some of the best roots musicians in the South. Mentored for over five years by former Firecracker Jazz Band pianist Reese Gray, Andrew has stepped in to keep the trademark energy and authenticity of Firecracker Jazz Band at full steam. He can be caught moonlighting with Asheville's mostly-female 20s jazz band, The Red Hot Sugar Babies as well as the Roaring Lions, Big Nasty Jazz Band, Blind Boy Chocolate and the Milk Sheiks and many other bands that need an energetic piano player.

What to Expect
Typical Gig Duration: 30 - 240 minutes
I play hot jazz piano. Some people like to dance to it, other's enjoy the traditional bar room piano style. I can play saloon style, barrelhouse and other early 20th century American piano styles.

I can bring a piano on wheels for an additional negotiated price, or I can play a piano that you provide. Because I'm interested in the tradition of the piano and not the electric piano, I do not play keyboards when I play a solo performance.
