You’re on your way to enjoying a fantastic Veterans Day.
Celebrate Our Soldiers!
Raise your American Flags high because it’s Veteran’s Day. Originally Veteran’s Day
was called Armistice Day because the holiday was the commemoration of the day we signed
an armistice to end the fighting of World War I. On this special holiday we take the time to
remember and celebrate those who served our great country. We honor the brave men and
women who served our country in order to keep peace and freedom in the U.S.A. It is a perfect
day to get together family and friends and honor the special veterans in your lives. Gig Salad
can help you plan an event that your guests will never forget!
The Land of the Red, White, and Blue
Since Veteran’s Day is a patriotic holiday, adorn your party in red, white, and blue. You can
even use your Fourth of July decorations. Balloons, streamers, banners, and confetti are great
ways to liven up the party. Nothing yells America like the American flag so be sure to raise a
large flag in front of your house and have as many other American flags around as possible.
Along with that, put red, white, and blue stars and stripes around the area. Star balloons and a
string of hanging paper stars are examples. Have red, white, and blue hats and noise makers
around the room for guests to enjoy. If your party is going to be outside make sure you rent
large tents to protect guests
from rain or the sun. Along with that, enlarged pictures of the veterans you are honoring with a
small biography about their time serving their country below the picture is a nice way to spotlight
the special veterans you are commemorating. Also, put up pictures of fighter aircrafts and
tanks. Finally, the official flower of Veteran’s Day is the poppy so make sure you have these
lively flowers around the party.
Party in the U.S.A.
Get your party going with great entertainment! To begin, a band, whether it is a americana band, classic rock band, country band, party band, rock band, top
40 band, tribute band,
or a southern rock band,
is the perfect way to get your guests ready to have some fun. Honor some more vocalists
with memorable patriotic songs by hiring an impersonator like a Johnny Cash impersonator or an Andrews Sisters
tribute show. Have a guest appearance by a great American historical character or a presidential impersonator
and have them entertain your guests with some comedy or storytelling. If you have children attending your
party, a balloon twister, face painter, or an airbrush artist are few fun ways to keep them happy.
Another creative form of patriotic
entertainment is to play war history trivia on teams. Last and most important, you should
take some time out of your party to honor war veterans, especially your loved war veterans, by
thanking, remembering, and toasting to them.
An All American Feast
Have fun making your Veteran’s Day Menu! There is not any special food that is traditional
for this holiday so really anything works. Barbecue is a very American food so try making pulled
pork sandwiches, chicken, burgers, shrimp, and whatever other food you love in barbecue
sauce. Corn and mashed potatoes are also classic American side dishes that you could offer.
Buffet style food is great because it allows guests to eat as they please. Chips and dip are
great to have laying around on tables for guests to snack on. Desserts are the exciting part of
your food selection because you can get very creative when making them. A rectangle cake
covered in white icing and topped with blueberries and raspberries to look like the American
flag is a perfect dessert for your party. Also, red, white, and blue iced or sprinkled cupcakes
or cookies are delicious desserts that stick with your patriotic theme. Parfaits with pound
cake, whipped cream, blueberries, and strawberries have the same effect too. Next, for
drinks serve red and blue punch or cool-aid and red and blue mixed alcoholic drinks. and If
you want to eliminate the hassle of cooking and serving, hire a caterer and a bartender to take care of it for you.
A great deal of planning goes into having an amazing party so if you don’t have the time
or want the extra stress try hiring an event planner. With your direction, ideas, and advice, they will take care of all
your party details. If you choose to plan the party on your own or you decide to use an event
planner, make sure you use Gig Salad to help you along every step of the way making the
process quick, enjoyable, and easy!
