Biography

Funk Forum was formed in 2006. Funk Forum is the answer to 70's and 80's funk, R&B, disco sound in this region. Mark Steiner, Steiner Talent executive, formed the band because too often he saw that St. Louis and Kansas City bands were being booked to fulfill the needs of local events who wanted a genre other than classic rock, country, top 40 and your standard cover band sound. The group will include at least two beautiful female lead vocalists with the option of adding a 3rd, based on your discresion and budget. If you want more bang for the buck and your event needs all the bells and whistles you can even add the Bad As Brass, horn section. Funky Forum is available for corporate and private events, wedding receptions, fairs and festivals, casinos, PAC's and only the best club dates.

Vic Vaughan is a New York born and bred musician who moved to Springfield about twenty years ago and immediately brought his talents to the forefront with his own band. Vic was a member of and toured with The Flamingos. Vic is an accomplished guitarist and an amazing singer. Able to copy the sounds from Stevie Wonder too Earth, Wind & Fire.

Kelly Smith, is a lifelong Ozarks native. Kelly made her professional debut on the Branson stage of the Baldknobbers and stayed for 8 years. She joined "Legends in Concert" in 2000 where she perfected her imitation of the celebrity Cher. Kelly was the singing voice of Cher on the television special about her and former husband Sony Bono, where she received critical acclaim. In addition to Cher, Kelly continues to perform and appear as Shania Twain which she has mastered as well. In 2005 Kelly sang with Tony Orlando on his Famous Christmas Show. She has worked with artists such as, Bob Hope, Roy Clark, The Osmonds and others.

In 1994, Sheila Davis had a love for performing music that led her straight to the Air Force's elite, Tops in Blue program, praised by the late Bob Hope for its dedication and USO style of entertaining troops all over the world. Sheila performed for US and foreign troops in Europe, the Pacific Theater, Turkey and Continental United States. During this time, Sheila also performed for the Haitian refugees held by US troops at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After an honorable discharge Sheila returned to the Ozarks where she continued entertaining people through music. In Branson, Sheila worked with Bobby Vinton, Hee Haw star Roy Clark, Merril Osmond and Shoji Tabuchi and many others.

John Anderson, our drummer extraordinaire is the rhythmic engineer for Funky Forum. Johns a veteran, with stage experience spanning over the past 16 years. John has a chameleon like quality that gives his grooves an authentic feel and sound in any musical situation. John is often hired for studio projects throughout the Midwestern United States including the famed Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN. John is in demand as a touring professional having worked with The Osmond Brothers, Dust for Life, Farewell June, and Barefoot Revolution, in addition to his touring experience, taking him throughout the United States and Canada, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and to the Caribbean several times. John studied Percussion Performance at Missouri State University.

Randall Wildman, a dynamite bassist. A native of Muskogee, OK, Randall began piano lessons in the 5th grade, and bass soon after. Upon completion of a music degree in piano at Evangel University, Springfield, MO, Randall continued his piano education in a masters program at Missouri State University. Randall's bass skills developed by trial and error playing in church. Learning by ear, Randall developed his own style by combining many techniques of artists he admired. Due to his piano foundation, his bass playing has a very seasoned sound. With over two years of full-time traveling with the band Farewell June, Randall has had the privilege to perform and record with many artists across the country. He is currently teaching piano at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO while working on his masters in piano.

The keyboard player, Kelly Brown, has been playing music professionally for over 20 years. After three years at the Berklee College of Music he traveled coast to coast and internationally. Kelly toured with The Skeletons and Dave Alvin of The Blasters performing on stage with musical artists including Bo Diddley, Steve Cropper, Chuck Berry and Taj Mahal. Kelly's ability to play a wide variety of styles has kept him busy with local groups and musicians over the years; Howie and the Hillcats, Vic Vaughan and the 2econd Coming, The M-Dock Band, The Allie Catz, Rags to Riches, Brown and Hines, Nancy Johnson, The Blue Monday Band, Supe and the Sandwiches, Kim Crosby, Benny Mahan, Richard Bruton, Randy Hamm, and even Ned Reynolds.

Allie Hutsell, lead female vocalist of local band The Allie Catz, enjoys singing with Funk Forum when the opportunity arises! Growing up in Dallas, TX, Allie was a weekly entertainer on The Johnnie Highs Country Music, Ft. Worth, TX through High School and hired as a lead female vocalist on The Shoji Tabuchi Show, Branson, MO at age 17 by Dorothy Tabuchi. After a 10 year career with The Tabuchi Theatre as vocalist, vocal director and production assistant... Allie had accumulated 21 years as professional vocalist by age 27, having worked with the likes of; The Judds, Box Car Willie, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jim Ed Brown, Porter Wagoner, Lee Greenwood, Crystal Gayle, Shoji Tabuchi, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Sewell, Dottie and Shelly West, Brenda Lee and many others. She also had the opportunity to be coached by the famous Seth Riggs, creator of the renoun singing method, Speech Level Singing. Although, her Texas roots were planted firmly in Country Music, Allie has aquired a chameleon like quality to sing various styles of music, but prefers Jazz and R&B... anything steeped in Soul Music.
