Lemon Knife is a Chicago-based hard rock duo (primarily bass and drums--sometimes the bassist switches to guitar) with punk edges and classic rock sensibilities. They combine high-octane distorted riffs, sharp lyrics, and their unique combination of dramatic melodic female and punk male vocals to create an eclectic sound that is remarkably big for being put out by two people. Formed in spring 2017, they have since played an especially varied assortment of Chicago venues--including Beat Kitchen, Cole’s Bar, Burlington Bar, and Reggie's--and released three full-length albums earning radio play on stations such as WKQX, WHPK, and WRSE. As of April 2022, they've begun work on a fourth!

Lemon Knife is a Chicago-based hard rock duo pulling from classic rock, punk, garage rock, and anything built on riffs to create a melodic and eclectic sound that is remarkably big for being put out by two people. Formed by kindred nerds Mia Blixt-Shehan (bass, melodic vocals, occasional guitar, musical composition) and John Retterer-Moore (drums, punk vocals, lyrics) in the spring of 2017, they have since played an especially varied assortment of Chicago venues, including Beat Kitchen, Cole’s Bar, Burlington Bar, Reggie’s, Crown Liquors, Moe’s Tavern, several memorable DIY spots, and a few notable non-traditional gigs at events such as YesFest 2018 in Elmhurst and Chicago’s Global Reddit Meetup Day, also in 2018. Tracks from their debut album, Songs About Water and Death, have also received radio play by stations such as WKQX’s Demo 312, WIIT, and WRSE. They released their second full-length album, I Know That This is Vitriol, in December 2019, and their third, Endlessly Expanding, in May 2021. They're currently (April 2022) working on a fourth album for release in late 2022 or 2023!
We've listed equipment we'd like the venue/event organizer to provide in Stage/Setup requirements. If there is anything they can't provide, we're willing to source it for an increased fee.

Typically, 10-20% of our set is covers--we're not a cover band but enjoy sprinkling them through the set. We're certainly open to doing more covers for the right gig (we've done a couple of tribute sets for Halloween that were a ton of fun), as long as we can sneak in some of ours!
