With DJR Interactive, you can expect a truly unique approach to your next event. From day 1, David James of DJR Interactive works alongside you to plan out the event you dreamed of. David James works across multi-genres to ensure your party or event is a success. Give him a try, you won't be disappointed.
David James was born and raised in the entertainment capital of the world, so it’s no surprise this Michigan guy would begin his career in heart of Motown. “I grew up with a simple vision to create content that would inspire everyone”.
David’s down to earth personality makes listening to his radio show feel like you’re spending time with a good friend—and that’s exactly how he views his listeners! Whether in the studio, live on location, or being social online and in person, David enjoys connecting with his listeners.
“I remember coming home from school and running to turn on the radio so I could hang out with my favorite DJs and dance to all my favorite songs; I wanted to be a radio personality for as long as I can remember,” he says. “I was a big radio fan as a kid and still am today.”
With a passion for music, people, and entertainment, David started studying the art of radio by listening everyday to his favorite radio station: Top 40 WTWR 98.3 (Tower 983). When his favorite radio station met their demise in 2007, David switched his #1 preset to 98.7 AMP Radio, where he was later introduced to the sounds of Sean “The Coop Show” Tabler. “I remember turning my dial to 98.7 Amp Radio and just being in awe of Sean’s energy and creativity whenever he was on mornings.”, he said. “The way Sean could capture the attention of his listeners and make them feel as though you’ve known them your whole life, that is truly mesmerizing
David’s love of radio didn’t stop there. In 2009, David attended the One Direction concert in Detroit and through a technical difficulty situation, he was later introduced to the likes of Thomas Whittaker, Promotions Coordinator for WDZH. Thomas offered David a job with CBS Radio’s (WDZH) 98.7 Amp Radio. “I was excited the day I got the call from him [Tom]. I remember thinking “this is it, this is my big break”.
Though David didn’t make the cut with CBS Radio due to school commitments, he never stopped studying and mastering his craft. Immediately, David began shadowing his mentors Rat and Puff Show, Roxanne Steele, Julia Lepidi, and The Coop Show. “Each of my mentors bring a unique persona and style that made radio exciting and engaging for me.”, David says.
David eventually went on to the University of Michigan - Dearborn, where he was given his own show on the campus radio station WUMD and quickly realized how much he loved the power of the microphone. As a natural entertainer, his indisputable talent was quickly recognized.
Today, David runs (link hidden) and continues his 3 year residency with WUMD College Radio. David is thankful to his mentors for their continued support and guidance in the radio industry. “I never imagined I would be doing something I love each and every week. It is truly a dream come true and I could not have done it without Roxanne, Joshua “Puff" Foreman, Jeffrey “Rat” Daily, Blaine Fowler, Lauren Crocker, Julia Lepidi, Chris “Chris Cruise” Chalmers, Matthew Laurenic, DJ Edward Alan, DJ DigiMark, and DJ Goofy White Kid.” he says. “Music and entertaining others is a part of who I am deep inside. I absolutely love what I do!”
