THE WOMAN BEHIND THE MUSIC
Born Jeannette Porrazzo, Jette began writing songs at the tender age of 10 years old-on the homestead her parents created after moving the entire family from Los Angeles in the early 1980's. She grew up in a rural area cut-off from public transportation, and the busy city life her parents knew - with majestic views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where wild horses still run free.
Most of her youth she was an active member of 4H, spent her summers swimming in Lake Tahoe with her four siblings, enjoyed shooting guns with her dad and brothers & riding horses in the east hills and dry lakes of Washoe Valley, the summer home to the Washoe Indians.
With her mothers encouragement; by age 14 she was singing in her church choir, spending her days in high school; very involved with musical theatre - obtaining 13 starring and costarring acting credits, meanwhile spending her evenings and summers studying voice performance at University Nevada, Reno (singing alongside people twice her age and performing in the symphonic choir).
By age 19 she taught herself to play guitar; was cowriting with local musicians and performing in bars and coffee shops throughout Northern Nevada; including Bucket of Blood Saloon in Virginia City.
She continued her classical voice and theatrical education at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN where she received a full-ride music scholarship and starred in 3 operas. She later went on to Metropolitan State University of Denver and studied photojournalism and broadcast communications for four years.
After more than seven years of college, one semester (15 elective credits) shy of a double bachelors (having to drop out due to a serious medical condition that required her to have a service dog) she persevered-moving to Los Angeles and began working in the film industry as a songwriter, film & television producer, voice-over actor and screenwriter.
In the fall of 2012 she came full circle and moved back to Tennessee, making Nashville her home with one goal in mind-to make a name for herself in the music industry. Jette has written over 2,400 songs and counting…
Since moving to Nashville; Jette has been a celebrity judge for the Kentucky Opry, held a music publishing office on Music Row (old fender building), was an integral part of the efforts to save music row, including saving the RCA studio A building from being demolished.
Jette has graced the stage of the world-famous Tootsies, the iconic Bluebird Cafe, crafting her stage presence at Carol Ann's and Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar (Printers Alley) jam sessions, The Commodore, The 404 Bar & Grill and the Hilton Garden Inn Music Row Ballroom to name a few. She's worked with Grammy Winning arranger Don Hart, Grammy nominated producer Jeff Sturms (George Strait), co-written with dozens of accomplished songwriters and appeared in multiple episodes of the ABC hit TV series, Nashville ((phone number hidden)8).
In February 2020 she wrapped production for her first studio album Training Wheels, working closely with celebrity voice coach, James Lugo (American Idol) Nathan Smith, engineer (Mainframe Studios). Featuring Jon Conley (Kenny Chesney), Michael Lusk (Loretta Lynn), Dow Tomlin (Wynona Judd), Britt Savage, Dennis Wage, Dave Francis, Dave Demay, Tim Carter (4x grammy winner) as well as a handful of equally great co-writers.
Jette has a near four octave range and writes all genres of music-as a recording artist she is focused primarily on traditional, country-crossover and classic country using real instruments along with full string arrangements combined with story song lyrics.
Training Wheels - Jette's first studio album was released August 6, 2021, digitally and the double 12" vinyl record is currently on sale exclusively on her website.
What's new?
After taking some much needed time off in late 2021 and half of 2022 Jette is back at it; placing 8th (out of 24,000 contestants) in the 2022 Opening Act competition.
In September 2022, Porrazzo was signed by long time record executive Larry Pareigis, president of Nine North Record Label Group (Nashville's Music Row) to take on all her radio promotion needs, starting with her first country radio single NEW GIRL and assist her ambitions in music and beyond.
Jette is in pre-production for a 28 song double album, her 2nd & 3rd country music studio albums; Two Sides To Every Story and a 15 track album Red Rose, the sequel to Training Wheels.
The double album project is also being self produced by the singer-songwriter, tracking spring/summer 2023 at world renowned studio, Blackbird Studios in Nashville: with Red Rose being an entirely artist written album. Release dates to be determined.
In November 2022 Jette returned to music row to expand her music publishing company and set up shop permanently - on the world famous destination.
"I really love having total creative control and producing is also a passion of mine alongside songwriting", says Jette.
